Kolkata

The disclosure and archaeological investigation of Chandraketugarh, 35 kilometres (22 mi) north of Kolkata, give confirm that the area in which the city stands has been occupied for over two centuries. Kolkata's history is personally identified with the British East India Company, which initially landed in 1690, and to British India, of which Calcutta turned into the capital in 1772. Jobe Charnock was broadly known as the originator of Calcutta (There were 3 towns named Sutanuti, Govindapur & Kolikata. Later the town Kolikata turned into the city Kolkata.



Yet as of late various Indian history specialists have debated this case, contending that Kolkata involves the site of a more seasoned Indian city, based on the aged Kali sanctuary at Kalighat. This case has been acknowledged by the Kolkata High Court. The Court has rejected the name of Jobe Charnock as the organizer of the city and 24th August as its date of conception. The memorable Judgement was based upon an abnormal amount Expert Commitee discoveries. It has been demonstrated that Kolkata had a profoundly acculturated social order for a considerable length of time before the Europeans first came here.
